Brocante-Antiquités — Avenue Duquesne

For a limited time only, one of the poshest brocante and antiquités exhibitions near Ecole Militaire and the Champs de Mars, on Avenue Duquesne, will be on display until June 6.  There is literally a red carpet to walk on, with each shop owner displaying fine arts, Louis XVI furniture, beautiful silver, Baccarat glassware and other fine period pieces that will is sure to please the discriminating collector.

A caviste is also selling fine Bourgogne wines.   One shop owner specializes in silver wine buckets.  Another, from Bordeaux, has beautiful collections of silverware from Christofle and other great French silversmiths.  She even remembered my wife buying a set from her at Chatou nearly two years ago, by me just saying my “marie†bought Christofle silver from her and she immediately remembered my wife — amazing!

Some of the artwork itself is amazing, with displays from well-known French artists from the early 1900s.  Some artwork, beautifully framed, can cost from 500-15,000 Euros, but these are quality museum pieces and are just fun to review, without going to a museum!

Each shop has a sign, and are under tents with glowing lights.  This is like no brocante exhibition you normally see, as this is very high-end stuff, which is appropriate in this tony end of the seventh arrondissement in Paris.
