Boulangerie Malineau

Just from looking in the window of this bakery, it is clear that their selection of sweet treats is out of this world. Located on the busy rue Vieille du Temple, you can be sure to round off a sunny afternoon in the Marais with a delightful pick-me-up. The range of patisserie items is astounding, and they are all presented in a creative and inspiring manner. On offer in the window is an array of biscuits all in different colours and designs, cakes shaped like mice, marshmallow in the most elegant of pastel hues, biscotti and of course the habitual pastry items. Choosing is the most difficult part; it is likely that you will be stood outside gazing at the choice for a considerable amount of time, as the arrangement looks like something from a fairytale and children are bound to love it.

The prices are very reasonable; I purchased a lovely double layered biscuit with chocolate inside and heart shapes cut out on the top which only set me back 2€; a snip for such childlike excitement and pure indulgence. This bakery is heavily recommended- but beware, the choice is so vast that you will want to buy more than one item! There is also a branch of this bakery in the 16th arrondissement.
