The Club

Nestled in the sleepy seventh arrondissement is The Club, a lovely spot for a bite to eat or an evening drink. Their specialities are Club Sandwiches and Cocktails, for both of which there is an extensive menu containing locally sourced ingredients. For example, smoked salmon for the sandwiches originates from Petrossian, a luxury delicatessen which is on the next street. The choice of cocktails is equally impressive, and attention is paid to individual touches. In the background, a lively choice of music makes for a cosy yet upbeat atmosphere and I have in the past heard music spilling out onto the silent street at eleven o’clock- a first for the quartier!

Prices are at the higher end of the scale- 15 euros for a club sandwich and 10 euros for a cocktail, but overall it is well worth it in a neighbourhood that is not renowned for its bars and nightlife. The friendly proprietors are polite and knowledgeable and have turned what used to be a rundown and unsuccessful bar into a place to be seen.
