Restaurant Musée d’Orsay

Normally when one thinks of restaurant food at a musuem, it means packing a lunch or viewing preserved artifacts of old china.  France brings museum food to a whole new level, and there is no better place to experience excellent food in a simply lavish venue, then at Restaurant Musée d’Orsay.

Located on the first floor of this storied museum, the dining salon is stunning:  with rich paintings on the ceilings, tall windows with gilded gold, draped with chandeliers and, of course, at a venue that houses some of the greatest impressionist paintings by Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin and Van Gogh.  It is so good and beautiful, in fact, you may decide to just come for Sunday brunch, lunch or dinner, and if you have time see the masterpieces before or after.

Open seven days a week, its hours are as follows:

Breakfast and Lunch (service 9:30-5:45) — Tuesday-Sunday.

A lunch menu with dessert is only 16,50€, and a children’s menu is available at 6,70€. Tea service is from 2:45-5:45.

Dinner (service 7-9:30) — Thursday evenings. A price-fixe “discovery” menu is available at 55€ (drinks  included).

Are these hours correct for breakfast/lunch? The website says the opening hours start at 11:45, but that groups are to arrive at that time. Do they have a breakfast menu? We are headed to Paris next week and considering having brunch there before heading to Versailles on the RER train near the museum.
